unity fail

to be brutally honest I never understood unity at all this year and tried to mainly focus on the readings and all the extra credit. hoping that would be enough to pass this course. I still have very high points as I have done so many extra credit and all the blogs / unity tutorials. I have a game started but to be honest it was a mess and with al;l the other assigments it is not going well. I will try get more of it done to show on wednesday but I am not too confident. over this course I have really enjoyed the readings and I have done the extra credit lots but my final game is kinda all over the place. I wanted to do a platformer but that failed big time and the coding in this just makes no sense at all to me.

unity free tutorials

so today I was super busy trying to get an alpha of my website completed so I only got time to do one unity tutorial but the tutorial that I did do has helped me put the final pieces to my game so I am pleased with that aspect of it to be honest. i watched this tutorial . This tutorial was really interesting and I liked how the guy broke it down really well and made it super easy to follow. A main menu is something I should have had before I suppose but i just never thought about it which is stupid I I know.  I liked how it actually was not that hard to code and you could easily change the buttons and menu layout to suit whatever game it was you are making. this tutorial did drag on a good but near the end but I manged to follow it through to the end and I am very happy with what I have learned from it, overall today unity tutorial was great as it really helped me finalize parts of my game and make it look more professional which is exactly what I wanted.

growth and mindset

for this post I will attempt the extra credit growth and mindset task. I read  "this article " . this article was very interesting altogether. i completely agree that being graded in school can be very emotional on certain people and can hurt a persons confidence. I agree that not everyone who gets top marks can be unhappy with them as they do not understand why it was so easy and there is usually a huge divide between the top and bottom people in the class from their grades. grades can be a good way to control students like it says in this article but overall they just cause arguments between students and make people who just cant get the top marks ever even if they studied for days feel really bad about themselves. I like the teacher who set up meetings with them this should benefit the students and make them feel more comfortable in the class. overall this extra credit article was very interesting to read and has changed my view on all things to do with gradings in schoo...

tech task week 10

so for this weeks tech task I had a lot of fun with it. I chose to make a meme. memes are something that I view on a daily basis but I have never made one of my own before this. I spent a long time looking at pictures and trying to make a funny caption but to be honest I am not the funniest person ever and most pf my jokes turn out to be very cringey.   link to my awful meme

unity free tutorials

So for today's unity tutorial we got to go out and find two of are own tutorials. I  enjoyed this very much because It gave me a chance to find out some very useful things that I hope to use in my final gamw. Some of the previous unity tutorials were good but they did not help me much with the things I want to do ion my final game. The first tutorial that I watched and completed was called " HOW TO RANDOMLY SPAWN ENEMY POSITIONS WITH C# UNITY TUTORIAL " . this seemed like a very complicated thing at first but when I got into it it turned out to be a lot simpler then I had first imagined. first thing I did was  bring  previous enemy I had been working with. I first added in a cue and brought it to where I wanted the enemy to spawn. then I had to go into the code and fill in all the variables so the enemies could actually spawn after I did that it was pretty plain sailing. I am delighted that I now know how to do this and I will definitely use this in my final game a...

Game stories

so for todays blog we got to look at games from a completely different angle and I really learned so much from this. The previous readings have been helpful but this one was definitely my favourite. The first article that I read was called  "What Every Game Developer Needs to Know about Story"  . This was a really unique article as I never thought about how the story of my game much at all as for this module most games we make will have no story and will just be focusing on gameplay and getting the game to function perfectly.  I love the statement that games aren't movies. this is so t rue. you need a good balance between story and gameplay if the story is the main focus of the game and the gameplay sucks then it will ultimately be a really bad age to play and you will not enjoy it al all.  I definitely agree that it should be simple but the story should have some substance to it and should have a good map to explore.  I like how the mention the character in...

Wikipedia trail

For this post I decided to do the extra credit Wikipedia trail I found this to be very interesting to do and It did not feel like i was doing work at all .  to start off this task I searched up game design on Wikipedia as it is something we are focusing heavily on in this module. I read through this carefully and got some great knowledge from it like how the new game design media industry has grown over the last decade. this was great to start with as it really helped me learn more about the things I should be learning on this module. I then clicked on find a random article and  this article came up .    this article was very interesting. it was about an author  Casasses who published his first two books of poetry,  La bragueta encallada  (1972) and  La cosa aquella  (1982), in alternative editions. In 1991. Casasses published a second edition of  La cosa aquella .  I then continued mt trail and  found this . this artic...
