Adobe MAX (How to be successful in the media industry)

Hello and welcome to my blog about adobe max. I attended a good few sessions which included (interview with Zendaya, Adobe max keynote, how to make engaging social media videos by Amber Torrealba, taking next step in creative career and photoshop for visual designers). Today I will be going into depth on my favourite two and telling you all what you need to be doing to have a successful career in the media industry.

Off the bat I was amazed at how good the quality of the adobe max talks actually were and I was very surprised that were all free . usually something of this high quality costs a lot to view. The video quality, audio and the whole setup of every session was immaculate. Adobe put some serious work into this and I am so grateful as I actually learned so much from it. I was going into this conference trying to gain more video skills and I definitely did.

Amber,s session was really engaging. She is a champion skim-boarder and filmmaker. The first thing I learned was all about adobe premiere rush a great mobile app for editing videos. The main thing Amber tried to get across was how your content should flow seamlessly. Amber herself loved to use lots of transitions and her videos flowed so well that they were really easy to watch.  If you look at content that is watched online it is either one of two. Either it is really funny or has great editing and good transitions. boring videos of just talking nowadays do nothing to spark interest. If I am trying to incorporate that into my world, for instance I post workout videos online and some are just clips and while they can be kind of helpful , If I want to up my game I need to be doing good transitions , edits and flow each clip seamlessly the next one. overall if I was trying to get you to take something away from this it would be to don't just post basic things, do cool edits and always think if what you are about to post is engaging or not. If you do that then you are in a great place to have a successful media career.

Now I will talk about the luminary conference I attended. I attended an interview with Zendaya a huge actress who has starred in movies such as Spiderman and many more. This interview was amazing and I tried to always bring it back to me and say how I could become successful in the media industry. throughout the interview Zendaya was asked about what sparks her creativity and how you succeed in this industry. Her answer shocked me at first but I gradually grew to understand it more as the interview went on.  Her whole point during the interview was that you constantly need to be learning new skills and diversifying your skills. Zendaya said she had learned piano over lockdown. This got me thinking a lot. I want to be a filmmaker/editor after college and while I need my skills in that area to be amazing , I also need to not forget the other aspects of media as being diverse is key to thriving in this industry.

Overall if I was leave this blog off on a sweet note I would say be diverse , always challenge yourself to learn new skills and put the effort into everything you post , don't just post crap for the sake of it.

I want to be a video editor when I am finished college and maybe work for companies such as BBC or RTE(you have to aim big or you will fail). During this term I want to get better at all things to do with video but I also want to give the other stuff like web design and game development a chance as I may end up loving them and actually want to go into that area after college. I have many hobbies. I am big into the gym and love lifting weights , it makes you feel better and look better so why not do it. I love football and I am a huge Manchester United fan even though we are rubbish now. I play tennis the odd time when I am not too busy also. I post fitness content online not to show off my body or muscles (even though I am proud of the results) More so that I can keep u...

unity fail

to be brutally honest I never understood unity at all this year and tried to mainly focus on the readings and all the extra credit. hoping that would be enough to pass this course. I still have very high points as I have done so many extra credit and all the blogs / unity tutorials. I have a game started but to be honest it was a mess and with al;l the other assigments it is not going well. I will try get more of it done to show on wednesday but I am not too confident. over this course I have really enjoyed the readings and I have done the extra credit lots but my final game is kinda all over the place. I wanted to do a platformer but that failed big time and the coding in this just makes no sense at all to me.

Unity tutorial 01

The first thing that I did before I started the tutorial was to watch all the jimmy vegas videos linked on the website., these really gave me a great starting place before I actually attempted the tutorial for myself. The tutorial that I did was the first one I saw called the creator dev . It was an alien shooter game. The really good thing was that you actually got to play the game before you went to make it so you could get a glimpse of how the mechanics were meant to work. The part I enjoyed the most was making my own enemies to shoot. I was disappointed that there was only really two character prototypes to go off but I did the most with them that I could. I found it very difficult to connect different pieces of the course together and make them actually work but eventually I got it right and it was pretty satisfying. This unity tutorial was very good but in general it was very limited and I am excited to get into more in depth unity tutorials in the very near future. overa...
