Reading 2

Welcome back to my blog guys. I was kind of hoping there would be no bogs to do this term at all as they were pretty stressful last semester but I will get on with it and give it my best shot. This module actually sounds very interesting and I ma excited to keep researching and adding to my parts of the book.

I spent way over 3 hours doing research for this. My two chosen topics are key components of game design and stages of game design. these are two topics that kind of excite me and make me want to dive into these blogs head first. the first thing I did was list all the who, what ,why ,where and when. these questions actually really helped me get a focus on what I was researching
these are my answers

who- I started my who by finding all about the people behind the games, I found out that first game was made in 1972 and it was all very interesting

what- for the what part I went into detail about  what are the key elements in games . in my opinion a story and good visuals are the key opponents of a game as they are what draw you in and make you want to play it even more.

why- for why I had to delve further than usual. I had to go into detail as of why people actually started playing video games in the first place. this kind of just opened up a can of worm hole with peoples opinion but the main summary was that people wanted to experience a world that is not possible from them to experience in the real world.

when - for when I really struggled to find articles about it but I will go more into this in the coming weeks.

I really enjoyed the video on how to create a search strategy. this has given me tons of
information that I can use when I am trying to come up with ideas for future projects.

as you can see I put all my research onto this rubic and filled out by following your 10 steps you gave.

I really look forward to writing about these topics more in the coming weeks

Introduction Post

My name is Aaron Comiskey and I am 20 years old. I currently study CDM in Blanchardstown and I love the course. I live in Kilmessan, Meath with my family but I hope to move out soon when I get enough money together. I want to be a video editor when I am finished college and maybe work for companies such as BBC or RTE(you have to aim big or you will fail). During this term I want to get better at all things to do with video but I also want to give the other stuff like web design and game development a chance as I may end up loving them and actually want to go into that area after college. I have many hobbies. I am big into the gym and love lifting weights , it makes you feel better and look better so why not do it. I love football and I am a huge Manchester United fan even though we are rubbish now. I play tennis the odd time when I am not too busy also. I post fitness content online not to show off my body or muscles (even though I am proud of the results) More so that I can keep u...

unity fail

to be brutally honest I never understood unity at all this year and tried to mainly focus on the readings and all the extra credit. hoping that would be enough to pass this course. I still have very high points as I have done so many extra credit and all the blogs / unity tutorials. I have a game started but to be honest it was a mess and with al;l the other assigments it is not going well. I will try get more of it done to show on wednesday but I am not too confident. over this course I have really enjoyed the readings and I have done the extra credit lots but my final game is kinda all over the place. I wanted to do a platformer but that failed big time and the coding in this just makes no sense at all to me.

Unity tutorial 01

The first thing that I did before I started the tutorial was to watch all the jimmy vegas videos linked on the website., these really gave me a great starting place before I actually attempted the tutorial for myself. The tutorial that I did was the first one I saw called the creator dev . It was an alien shooter game. The really good thing was that you actually got to play the game before you went to make it so you could get a glimpse of how the mechanics were meant to work. The part I enjoyed the most was making my own enemies to shoot. I was disappointed that there was only really two character prototypes to go off but I did the most with them that I could. I found it very difficult to connect different pieces of the course together and make them actually work but eventually I got it right and it was pretty satisfying. This unity tutorial was very good but in general it was very limited and I am excited to get into more in depth unity tutorials in the very near future. overa...
